I am interested in having a permanent discourse with the central issues of abstract painting and what abstract painting is and can be today.
To rethink the boundaries of painting.
Paintings that do not want to be pictures.
The work can not be interpreted in terms of mere subject matter. I am interested in the relationships of the paint and gesture, as they come to express concepts of presence and absense, intention and involvement. The works are derived and motivated, by issues of longing, searching, and desire. To let the materials be elevated, to carry a presence within them, to create a suspended moment of purity, a fragment, the calm before the storm.
